Re: Repairs following Lead Theft

I want to begin this congregational update letter by thanking the Lord for His love, faithfulness and continuing provision as we serve Him together.

On behalf of the PCC, I write to express our sincere thanks for your prayers and financial support for the recent appeal to cover the cost of repairs and security enhancements following the theft of lead from the church roof last year.

Further to my last letter, I’m pleased to advise that following the erection of scaffolding to repair the gutters on the south side of church, we found that the estimated damage was far less than expected. Therefore the actual costs of repairs were £393 when we had been advised to budget for £6,000. Another answer to prayer!

The repairs to the vestry roof have been delayed whilst we explored the possibility of applying for a new grant from the government. Sadly, the cost of this repair is below the minimum threshold. Therefore, this repair will now be commissioned and paid for from church funds. The cost of this repair (£7,446) is included in the expenditure total (see below).

Following your generous support, there is a shortfall of £1,531 that will be met from church funds. It is anticipated that some additional gifts will be forthcoming which will help to offset this amount.

Finally, I’m pleased to advise that the interior damage to paintwork in the chancel area caused by water ingress, will be rectified this month. The cost of this painting is covered by our insurance coverage.
