Pastoral Team (Coordinator-Transport Team-Car Drivers)

To keep a list of volunteers from St John's who are willing to provide lifts to church/church hall and liaise with them to provide 'one off', short or long term lifts to parishioners who request them.

Responsible To: Pastoral Coordinator (Jenny Cosslett)
Time Committment: Approx. one hour per week, depending on volunteer availablility
As part of this role a volunteer would have the following responsibilities:
  • Keep an up to date list of members of St John's congregation who are willing to offer lifts to church/church hall to those who would be unable to walk or use public transport.
  • Arrange when requested a lift to church/church hall for a one off occasion, on a temporary basis (as in someone being temporarily incapacitated) or on a long term regular basis. This may also include finding lifts home for people after church services/events
  • Recruit new volunteers in order to expand the service

A volunteer in this role would require some or all of the following attributes:
  • Organised and dependable, with access to suitable transport
  • Able to listen effectively and communicate clearly with others
  • Friendly, sensitive and patient
  • Has a spirit of love and compassion and feels comfortable communicating with both volunteers and those requiring transport
  • Organised and able to coordinate others

In order for someone to be able to perform this role the following training and support will be given:
  • Initial and ongoing support arranged by the Pastoral Coordinator (Jenny Cosslett)
