Pastoral Team (Team Member-Transport-Car Driver Team)

To be available to offer lifts to/from church services or any other church event to those who would otherwise be unable to attend

Responsible To: Transport Team Coordinator
Time Committment: Approx. 1 hour per week
As part of this role a volunteer would have the following responsibilities:
  • Pick up elderly or housebound people from their home and bring them to church services or other events held in the church or church hall. This may be on a regular or occasional basis
  • Understand and agree realistic boundaries to ensure the person (s) who receives a lift is aware of what can and cannot be offered
  • Take responsibility for contacting the Transport Coordinator if you are unable to provide a lift so that other arrangements can be made

A volunteer in this role would require some or all of the following attributes:
  • Honest and dependable
  • Is comfortable dealing with elderly, infirm, or disabled people
  • Is friendly, patient and has good relational skills
  • Has access to suitable transport and is confident driving with others in the car
  • Has a spirit of love for others, generosity and kindness
  • Able to alert the Transport Coordinator of any concerns

In order for someone to be able to perform this role the following training and support will be given:
  • Initial training and ongoing support from the Transport Coordinator
