Pastoral Team (Team Member-Healing Team)

Be a channel for Jesus' love and healing power through listening, praying and laying hands on those needing His healing touch for themselves or someone they care about. (Currently we have three Healing Teams at St John's but would like to expand this ministry in the future)

Responsible To: Healing Team Coordinator
Time Committment: Approx. one service per month, on a rota basis
As part of this role a volunteer would have the following responsibilities:
  • Be available to serve on one or more of St John's Healing Teams
  • Ensure that strict confidentiality is maintained and only offer to share personal information with others, including Clergy or the Pastoral Coordinator with the permission of the person concerned (There can be extreme exceptions to this which will be discussed in training sessions)
  • Able to attend an introductory Christian Healing Course and further meetings/training when required (this is essential)

A volunteer in this role would require some or all of the following attributes:
  • Hold a firm conviction regarding the truth and power of Christ's Healing Ministry in today's world and a strong belief in Jesus' ability to perform physical, emotional and spritual miracles of healing through us as we are used in His service
  • Have an understanding of Healing Ministry as expressed through scripture and have a willingness to explore and develop this further
  • Able to be sympathetic, caring, compassionate, non judgemental and sensitive
  • Able to deal with other's pain and fear as they relate their worries and problems
  • Have good communication and listening skills
  • Able to feel comfortable and confident in praying for Healing in Jesus' name
  • Able to maintain strict confidentiality

In order for someone to be able to perform this role the following training and support will be given:
  • Initial Healing Course run by the Pastoral Coordinator (Jenny Cosslett)
  • Ongoing support, advice and guidance provided by the Healing Team and Pastoral Coordinators
