This is the Prayer Letter for May. Please use this list to target praying in your group over the next month. The prayer requests focus on quality rather than quantity.
Sunday
It’s exam time for many children this month, a very stressful time for them and their families. Please pray that they will all be able to bring to mind all that they have faithfully learned and studied. Pray for all teachers at the schools in our village; pray that they will have great love and compassion for the children under their care and that they will do their best to encourage them at all times.
Monday
Pray for all the leaders involved in youth work, who do such a fantastic job in our church. We are still short of leaders, particularly for the FROGS 14-16 year olds. Pray that there will be people willing to come and help with this group on the threshold of adult life. So many do not get enough guidance, and belonging to a Christian group can make all the difference.
Tuesday
On the 18th May there will be a remembering thanking service for those who have lost loved ones. This service is always well attended because there is great need for people to express their grief. Pray that all who come will be comforted and blessed by the Lord’s Holy Spirit and pray for Brian as he preaches and reaches out to people in their heartache.
Wednesday
There are quite a few marriage services being held at St John’s this year. Thank God for these couples and pray for loving strong marriages for them. Joanna and Phil Marshall are hosting a marriage preparation night on 10th May. Pray that those couples who do not know the Lord may catch something of God, and will want to find out more about Him. Pray for Phil and Joanna as they lead.
Thursday
Simon spoke to us at the Annual Parish Meeting about reinvigorating our prayer lives in preparation for the church moving forward after the interregnum. Ask the Lord to show you what He wants to put on your heart for prayer; it could be youth work, young families, outreach in our village or further afield, growth. Whatever is laid on your heart, let’s get into prayer mode and really make a difference. Pray for the series of sermons starting 25th May “People of Prayer”, that these sermons will inspire our prayer life.
Friday
Please continue to pray for Richard and his family as their move approaches. Richard is hoping to start to get to know the staff at St John’s this month; pray that this will be a fruitful time for all concerned. Thank God that Richard puts prayer first; keep upholding the whole family in prayer. Keep on praying for Simon, Clare, Sam and Joel; ask the Lord to take away any anxious thoughts about the future; let’s keep on encouraging this lovely family who do so much for us.
Saturday
Our 6pm services are about being born again: our housegroup studies are also covering this subject. Pray that we may all deepen our faith as we continue to meet together to learn more about Jesus, to read the word of God and to learn to apply it in our lives. Pray that those with stronger faith may encourage the others and that each one of us will feel the influence of the Holy Spirit as we reach to Him and one another. Ask the Lord to encourage you in a closer walk with Him.
