The Christmas Story comes to Burscough WharfPosted by Phil Marshall on 22/11/2011 23:30
Everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy our Nativity service with a difference. The real Christmas story will be presented outdoors in a fun, friendly and contemporary way, including dance routines from some of our young people, and a real life donkey – although we don't expect the donkey to be dancing! You might even like to come along dressed as a character from the Nativity scene yourself. This will be a great opportunity to share the Christmas story with friends and family from the community, and get into the festive spirit by singing some of our best loved carols, so do come and join us for this wonderful occasion. The free outdoor service will start at 3pm in the Burscough Wharf courtyard, and will last around 1 hour, so come dressed for the weather. Please note that there will be no 6pm evening service at St John’s that day. If you can't make it on the 4th December, then perhaps you might like to be part of an historical Guinness World Record attempt on 18th December instead? St John the Baptist Church will be holding a Community Carols service on 18th December where we will be participating in a world record attempt for carol singing, organised by the 'Christmas Starts with Christ' campaign. The Community Carols Service will begin at 6pm, leading up to the World Record attempt at 7pm when churches and individuals up and down the country will take part in an effort to smash the current World Record for the largest number of people singing carols together across multiple locations. To break the record 15,000 people are needed to join in for 15-minutes of carolling, so we need as many people as possible to come and help make history! |
