Hospitality Team (Team Member-Function Catering Team)

To assist with catering at Church functions, throughout the year

Responsible To: Hospitality Team Co-ordinator (Jean Bailey)
Time Committment: As and when required - approx. one function per month
                                                                                                                
As part of this role a volunteer would have the following responsibilities:
  • Set up and prepare room for function (tables, chairs, crockery etc.)
  • Prepare food and drink and assist with serving, if required
  • Wash up all used crockery and utensils
  • Ensure kitchen area is left clean and tidy
  • Ensure all electrical equipment, boilers and lights are switched off and any doors securely locked
  • Ensure any rubbish is taken away and disposed of in an appropiate manner
  • Share responsibility for laundering used tea towels, tablecloths etc. and ensure that these are returned to the church within a reasonable timescale


A volunteer in this role would require some or all of the following attributes:
  • Able to work as part of a team
  • Friendly, welcoming personality who is able to liaise with others in a diplomatic and sensitive manner
  • Able to maintain appropriate confidentiality
  • Able to work with minimum supervision
  • Catering and good organisational skills desirable
  • Reliable and committed to ensuring that functions run smoothly


In order for someone to be able to perform this role the following training and support will be given:
  • Initial training and ongoing support provided by Hospitality Team Co-ordinator and/or by one of the existing Hospitality Team members
  • Additional training (eg Basic Food Hygiene course) may be arranged
