On the 6th –8th July. 18 men from the Fella-ship group set off on the adventure of a lifetime. For some it was their first time camping, others longed for a B&B, some just didn’t know what they were letting themselves in for!! The weather forecast was just about as bad as you could get. However, as always he Lord had other plans!
What a blessing the weekend turned out to be for all who attended. From the moment we all arrived, the sense of fellowship was evident. Walking into Ambleside for an evening meal followed by the fun of putting up the Gazebo at midnight. Morning prayer in glorious sunshine looking out across the valley, before a hearty breakfast to set us up for a long walk in the lakeland hills. (well for some it was a long walk, for others it was an opportunity to explore the local watering holes)
After a quick dip under the waterfalls, it was time for some well earned food around the campfire. The evening talk focussed on Peter’s denial and Jesus command to fish on the ‘right’ side of the boat. Good conversation followed.
Sunday – morning Prayer, once again followed by breakfast before the second talk around the campfire. The focus was on Jesus reinstating Peter, a God of second, third and fourth chances. The weekend finished with a short communion service around the campfire.
Friendships were deepened, the sense of togetherness was powerful, the deepening of faith evident and the opportunity to share was transforming.
How can i sum up the weekend – fun, food, fun, fellowship, fun, football, fun, friendship, fun, faith. Oh and did i mention fun!!!! Heres to next year!!
